Portfolio Management style is a term used in this industry to describe a Property Management Companies organization and business structure. In short, it means the Property Manager is actually an Independent Contractor (not an employee) of the Management Company, and is responsible for all duties related to management. This could mean showing the home, handling maintenance calls, being the resident and owner contact, accounting, data entry and marketing. Portfolio Management is an old business model and isn’t our recommended choice. Before you hire a management company you will want to know if the company is Portfolio, Departmental, or some sort of Hybrid business model.
